How to spot a genuinely efficient dehumidifier
- Look for the IEF, not just the ENERGY STAR logo. Every certified model already clears a minimum liters-per-kWh threshold; only the highest-scoring models in each capacity class earn Most Efficient recognition. ENERGY STAR’s public dataset shows both for every model.
- Compare the DOE pint rating, not the box number. Some brands, AEOCKY and Waykar among them, headline capacity at 95°F and 95% humidity, which runs about 3x higher than the DOE rating Midea and Frigidaire print.
- Don’t compare nameplate watts. A nameplate current such as 8.5 A at 115 V (978 W) is a wiring maximum, not a running draw. ENERGY STAR’s rated kWh per year is measured the same way for every brand.
